QUETTA – A district anti-terrorism court in Quetta has ordered the physical remand of youth activists from the Mahrang and Baloch Youth Conference (BYC) for ten days, following accusations related to recent protests in Balochistan.

The suspects, including key figures from the two groups, were presented before the court after being taken into custody during demonstrations. The court granted the remand to law enforcement agencies to complete further investigations and interrogations into alleged activities linked to public disorder and anti-state elements.

Lawyers representing the detained activists argued that their clients were exercising their right to peaceful protest and demanded access to legal counsel and humane treatment during custody. They also called for bail to be granted under existing laws for politically inclined detainees.

Security officials have maintained that the activists were engaged in unlawful activities aimed at promoting separatism and disturbing public peace. They stressed the remand would ensure a thorough inquiry into the charges and help maintain law and order in the province.

The court has scheduled a follow-up hearing to review the remand status and consider any additional requests from the defence or prosecution.
