ISLAMABAD – Social media was recently flooded with claims that China has removed Pakistan from its list of visa-free countries. However, a fact check confirms that Pakistan was never part of that list in the first place.
China recently expanded its visa-free entry to include 75 countries, mostly from Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, and parts of Asia. But Pakistan was not included in the list—neither now, nor previously.
The confusion appears to have come from misreported news, which wrongly claimed Pakistan had been “removed.” In truth, Pakistan has never been eligible for China’s 30-day visa-free entry or 10-day transit visa waiver.
Despite close ties between the two countries—including collaboration under CPEC—Pakistanis are still required to apply for a visa before travelling to China.
Officials have urged the public to verify such claims before sharing, as misinformation can damage diplomatic understanding and create unnecessary confusion.
