ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has declared the March 2023 elections of the Islamabad Regional Cricket Association (IRCA) null and void, following an adjudicator’s ruling.

The elections faced legal challenges from local cricket clubs, leading the adjudicator to invalidate the polls. As a result, the PCB removed all IRCA office bearers, including chairman Shakil Shaikh, and barred them from performing official duties.

With Islamabad now without elected leadership, it joins Sialkot, Faisalabad, and Multan, where regional cricket bodies remain leaderless due to delays in appointing election commissioners. For example, Faisalabad’s elections were held but the official notification is still pending.

The delay follows the expiration of election commissioner Shah Khawar’s tenure after PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi took office in February last year. A replacement has yet to be appointed, leaving the status of regional elections uncertain and causing concern in the cricket community.
