KARACHI – In a groundbreaking initiative for pop culture in Pakistan, local collector and enthusiast Aamir Sajjad has launched the country’s first-ever Superman and Christopher Reeve fan club in Karachi, while also announcing plans for a full-scale Comic Con Pakistan event scheduled for January 31, 2026, at the Karachi Expo Centre.

The fan club’s official unveiling took place in Clifton, where Sajjad also revealed a life-sized statue of Superman from his personal memorabilia collection. The event coincided with the global release of the latest Superman film directed by James Gunn.

Years of Passion Turned Into Movement

Aamir Sajjad, who has been collecting Hollywood memorabilia for over two decades, shared that he owns more than 5,000 unique items, including props like Rambo’s knives and shell casings from the movie King Kong, signed by director Peter Jackson.

He said the idea for the fan club took shape after a successful exhibition at IVS Gallery, where children—including those with special needs—interacted with superhero replicas. “Seeing their faces light up made me realise this could be something bigger,” he said.

Comic Con Pakistan: A Vision for the Future

Sajjad aims to transform Pakistan’s entertainment landscape by bringing the Comic Con experience to local fans. His plans include:

  • Hosting pop-up events at cafés and creative studios
  • Inviting Hollywood guests and celebrities
  • Launching Superhero Pakistan, a locally inspired mascot project
  • Collaborating with HKC Entertainment, a leading Hollywood distributor

According to Sajjad, a short film or animation based on Superhero Pakistan is already under production.

Public Response and Cultural Impact

The event drew praise from attendees and critics alike. Media personality Khursheed Hyder described the Superman statue as “remarkably lifelike,” applauding the craftsmanship and effort behind the launch.

Sajjad believes Comic Con Pakistan will offer a much-needed platform for youth expression, creative arts, and pop-culture representation—putting Pakistan on the global entertainment map.
