KARACHI – Acclaimed filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and her production house SOC Films are inviting Pakistanis to share inspiring real-life stories to be adapted into a short film for Independence Day, August 14.

The initiative seeks meaningful narratives that highlight resilience, social impact, women empowerment, or community transformation. The selected story will be produced as a short film to reflect the spirit of Pakistan and bring untold voices to the forefront.

Call for Submissions

SOC Films is encouraging individuals from all walks of life to submit stories based on true events. The aim is to discover impactful experiences that can translate into a 5–10 minute visual narrative with the power to resonate nationally.

The production house is known for creating thought-provoking content, including the internationally acclaimed “Sitara: Let Girls Dream”, and has consistently used cinema as a tool for social change.

Fostering Storytelling for Social Good

This initiative is part of SOC Films’ ongoing commitment to using storytelling to shed light on underrepresented voices. The selected story will not only celebrate Pakistan’s independence but also serve as a tribute to its people’s courage and perseverance.

The project also offers a platform for young creatives, activists, and everyday citizens to contribute to a national conversation through the power of film.

Further details regarding submission deadlines and guidelines are expected to be announced soon.
