WASHINGTON – Former US President Donald Trump has strongly denied claims made by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) about a controversial letter allegedly sent to Jeffrey Epstein in 2003, warning of legal action against the publication.

The WSJ reported that Trump had written a “bawdy” birthday message to Epstein as part of a photo album gifted during Epstein’s 50th birthday celebrations. The alleged note included a drawing and ended with the words: “Happy Birthday … may every day be another wonderful secret.”

Trump dismissed the story as false and defamatory, calling it an attack on his character. He accused the WSJ and its owner, Rupert Murdoch, of publishing a fake narrative. He further stated that the wording and style of the message were not his and did not reflect how he communicates.

In a sharp response, Trump said he would sue WSJ, Murdoch, and News Corp. He also called on US Attorney General Pam Bondi to release grand jury documents related to Epstein, claiming the truth would prove his innocence.

Trump’s allies also slammed the article, with Senator JD Vance calling it “complete nonsense.” The letter’s existence has yet to be independently confirmed.

The controversy has reignited debate over Trump’s past links to Epstein. However, a recent Justice Department memo found no Epstein “client list” implicating Trump or other high-profile individuals.

As Trump eyes the upcoming elections, the timing of the story and his fierce rebuttal are expected to keep the issue in the political spotlight.
