KUCHING – Pakistan has advanced to the final of the 2nd Asian Doubles Squash Championship 2025 after a thrilling 2–1 semifinal victory against Malaysia on Wednesday.

The national pair of Noor Zaman and Nasir Iqbal, seeded second in the tournament, demonstrated resilience and skill as they came from behind to secure the win. After dropping the opening game 10–11, the duo bounced back to take the next two games 11–9, 11–9, clinching a hard-fought win in just over an hour.

Earlier in the tournament, the Pakistani team topped Pool B, securing comfortable wins over the Philippines and South Korea. In the quarterfinal, they overcame South Korea again, registering a 2–1 victory with game scores of 11–3, 5–11, 11–4 in a 37-minute match.

The performance of Noor Zaman, the 2023 U-23 World Champion, combined with the experience of Nasir Iqbal, has reaffirmed Pakistan’s strength in doubles squash on the continental stage.

Pakistan will now face India in the final, where the Indian team will be represented by Abhay Singh and Velavan Senthilkumar. The final is expected to be a highly competitive match, with regional pride and the championship title at stake.

This victory marks a significant step forward in Pakistan’s squash resurgence, particularly in the doubles format, and is being hailed as a promising sign for the country’s future in international squash.
