LAHORE: Pakistan men’s hockey captain Ammad Butt has expressed pride in his team’s spirited performances at the recent Nations Cup, despite narrowly missing out on the trophy.

Speaking after the final match, Ammad praised the squad’s resilience and unity on the field, highlighting how younger players stepped up under pressure. He emphasised that while the result fell short, the team’s attacking flair and defensive discipline were commendable and hinted at better days ahead.

The captain also noted improvements in physical fitness and communication between defenders and forwards—areas that had troubled Pakistan in previous tournaments. He credited the coaching staff for instilling a clearer tactical identity and keeping morale high.

Ammad believes that the Nations Cup run will serve as a strong foundation ahead of the upcoming Asia Games. “We’ve shown we can compete with any team, and I’m confident we’ll build better momentum soon,” he said.

The field hockey community welcomed his remarks, viewing them as a sign of renewed belief and emerging leadership—especially ahead of important qualifiers later this year.
