WASHINGTON: The United States has expressed concern over heavy-handed measures against Muslims in France by President Emmanuel Macron's government.
Talking to reporters in Washington, the US envoy on International Religious Freedom Sam Brownback warned that the heavy-handed measures can make the situation worse.
He stressed the need for constructive engagements that can be helpful and not harmful.
Brownback said everyone is entitled to peacefully practice his faith and the government should honor and protect fundamental religious freedom rights of the people.
