UN chief calls for increasing digital connectivity in pandemic response, recovery

NEW YORK: UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has urged governments worldwide to increase digital connectivity in their COVID-19 pandemic response and recovery plans.

In his video message to closing of 2020 Internet Governance Forum, UN chief said COVID-19 pandemic has shone a spotlight on the importance of digital technologies and transformation.

The secretary-general urged need to address growing digital gender gap and those living in poverty and people suffering from discrimination of all kinds.
