JHANG: Water level in Chenab river has risen. More than 30 villages in Jhang have been inundated. Residents in the affected areas are being shifted to safer places on their own.
In Jhang, people are suffering due to flooding near Chenab river , adding that flash floods were not reported in time. No flood relief camp has been set up by the health department in the affected areas to prevent epidemics.
On the other hand, there is moderate flooding in the Chenab river near Chiniot where 220,000 cusecs of water is flowing. According to the flood control room, more than 70 villages were inundated and standing crops on hundreds of acres were destroyed. These include sugarcane, maize, mung bean and arbi crops.
Rescue teams have started rescue operations to evacuate people trapped in the affected areas, people are being shifted to safer places including livestock.
