PPPP-PPP submitted applications for allotment of election symbols

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Monday submitted applications for allotment of election symbols ‘arrow’ and ‘sword’, respectively ahead of the general elections.

PPPP Secretary General Farhatullah Babar wrote a letter to the chief election commissioner for allotment of election symbol, while the PPP Secretary General Nayyar Hussain Bokhari requested through a separate letter to Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan for allotment of ‘sword’ as symbol. In a letter to the CEC, Babar referred to the July 2 public announcement by the Election Commission inviting applications for allocation of election symbols ahead of the general elections.

Accordingly, he requested the CEC under Section 216 of the Election Act 2017 for allotment of ‘arrow” as symbol. The letter said the ‘arrow” had all along been allotted to the PPPP during all the previous general elections held since 2002.

In a Separate letter to the CEC, Bokhari on behalf of Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari submitted a request to the Election Commission for allotment of the election symbol ‘sword’
