ISLAMABAD: Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar says the Prime Minister is keen to see transfer of resources to local governments, so that public services can improve at that level.
He was chairing a video conference meeting in Islamabad to discuss the Provincial Finance Commission awards.
The Finance Ministers of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa shared the work being done in their respective provinces on finalizing the design of the Provincial finance commission.
Planning Commission representatives provided an overview of various models of sub-national fiscal transfers, aimed at empowering the local governments for better service delivery.
It was decided to hold further deliberations to work out a formula which would best serve the purpose of empowerment of local governments.
