LAHORE: Speaker Punjab Assembly, Chaudhry Pervez Elahi, has confirmed on Sunday that his party, Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) will participate in the upcoming senate polls.

In a meeting with federal minister Ijaz Shah, Pervez Elahi said that his party is an ally of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and will definitely take part in senate polls scheduled for March. The head of the party, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Moonis Elahi, senator Kamil Ali Agha and G.M. Sikander were part of the meeting.

Despite recent rifts between the two parties, Pervez Elahi took the opportunity to quell rumors by praising Prime Minister Imran Khan. "The Premier is trying to solve the country's issues in a good manner," he told Ijaz Shah.

However, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, took the opportunity to ask the federal minister to ask the government to give priority to the people's problems. "The country's conditions demand that the people's situation be made better," suggesting that mega projects be delayed for a few months so that the public can be given benefits.
