Not a single penny paid for PM Khan’s house expense: Jahangir Tareen

ISLAMABAD - Estranged Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Jahangir Khan Tareen on Wednesday denied claim made by a former party leader that he had been paying monthly household expenses of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

He said that he never paid a penny for expenses of PM Imran Khan’s palatial house in Bani Gala area of Islamabad.

His remarks came after PTI former leader Justice (retired) Wajihuddin Ahmed in a TV interview claimed that Tareen used to provide money up to Rs 5 million per month to run expenses of party chairman Imran Khan’s house.

Tareen refuted remarks of Wajihuddin at a time when he has bitter relations with PM Imran Khan since the former’s name surfaced in the sugar scandal report prepared by FIA.

“I did whatever was in my capacity to help PTI in the quest to build a new Pakistan but I never gave a penny for the household expenses of Bani Gala,” he said in a Twitter post adding that he wanted to set the record straight.

Tareen added that he wanted to tell truth regardless of the “current status” of his relationship with Imran Khan.

After the statement of Justice (retd) Wajih, Special Assistant to PM on Political Communication Dr Shahbaz Gill had also refuted the claim of the former party leader.

Wajihuddin had resigned from the PTI five years ago after developing differences with the PTI chief for not implementing his recommendations on alleged irregularities in the intra-party polls.
