Maia Sandu, opposition candidate becomes Moldova president

CHISINAU: In Moldova, Opposition candidate Maia Sandu has won the presidential election after a run-off vote against the incumbent Igor Dodon.

According to preliminary results, Ms Maia got 57.7% of the vote compared to Mr Dodon's 42.2%.

Moldova is a land-locked country located in eastern Europe.
