GHOTKI: Mari Petroleum has discovered large gas reserves in Ghotki district of Sindh.
According to Mari Petroleum, gas reserves have been discovered at Bilal One well. Mari Petroleum has dug a 1,202-meter-deep well.
According to Mari Petroleum, drilling of the well started on April 21, 2020. Mari Petroleum has succeeded in discovering gas reserves.
It may be recalled that in February this year, the state-owned oil and gas exploration company Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) had indicated the possibility of discovering one trillion cubic feet of gas reserves from the Margand block in Balochistan.
According to PPL, excavation was started in Margand X-One on June 30, 2019 and evidence of the presence of hydrocarbons has been found from Modular Dynamics Testing (MDT) at a depth of 4,500 meters.
The drill steam test of the well showed that a day's production could be 10.7 million cubic feet of gas and 132 barrels of liquid. Officials said final figures on gas reserves would be known only after the well was drilled.
An initial statement issued by the company said that the initial estimate based on the structure of the Margand block shows that the block has one trillion cubic feet of reserves, however, digging more wells could support this estimate.
It may be recalled that in November last year, the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) had discovered huge oil and gas reserves in Sindh.
