KARACHI: Mufti Taqi Usmani renowned religious scholar has said he does not think Islamisation could ever take place in Pakistan as per its founding charter because of its existing political and governance systems that heavily rely on IMF and Western support for their sustenance.
The noted religious scholar stated this on Saturday while speaking at a programme held here at the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI).
He lamented that the past rulers had completely forgot that Pakistan had come into existence in the name of Islam. He said that rulers had idealised the Western systems and tried to implement them in the country.
He said the successive governments in Pakistan had been enslaved by the IMF and other institutions based in the West.
He said that Pakistan had an abundance of natural resources including mineral reserves, mountains, rivers and sea but it had failed to achieve progress due to its enslavement by the Western institutions.
Mufti Usmani said that people should not lose hope and stop struggling for a better future only because the present political system in the country is chaotic.
He stated that revolutions occurring worldwide were independent of the government in each country.
The concerned masses and different sections of society were primarily the source of revolutions all over the world.
He said the autonomy of political and governance system in Pakistan would be ensured the moment the masses in the country decided to become independent.
The renowned Islamic scholar urged different sections of society to join hands to think and strive collectively for the benefit of the country and countrymen.
He viewed that people should not wait for any improvement in the political system and a capable leadership to come into power and deliver. Successive general elections in the country did not produce the desired results as widespread rigging complaints emerged after every poll with the agitating quarters demanding that elections should be conducted again.
He lamented that efforts launched with the support from FPCCI to make Pakistan’s economic system interest-free failed to bear fruit because of the West’s heavy influence on the government.
Mufti Usmani recalled that the noted founders of Pakistan had passed away soon after the country came into being. Later on, the people who took over the reins of the country were bereft of any ideological affiliation or objective as they were running the affairs of the country only because of politics. He said the successive rulers only perpetuated the colonial system of governance they had inherited from the British rulers in the Indian Subcontinent. He opined that the past rulers had replicated the British colonial system in every field.
