President Dr Arif Alvi says the government believes in comprehensive development of all sectors of society instead of unequal economic growth.

He was addressing an International Donors Conference on population dynamics and family planning in Islamabad today [Friday].

The President stressed for mass awareness about reproductive health and family planning to curtail the unwanted growth of population.

He also stressed the need to work together with international partners for mobilizing the country's resources and achieving the goal of sustainable growth.

Spaeking on the occasion, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on National Health Services Dr Faisal Sultan said we have to check population growth in the context of natural resources and basic facilities of life to avert the disastrous impacts of an inadvertent increase in population.

Earlier, representatives of international donor agencies, high commissioners of United Kingdom and Canada and ambassadors of United States and European Union, highlighted the contributions of their countries in supporting Pakistan's efforts for tackling the issue of population growth.

They expressed the resolve to move together for achieving the common goal of sustainable growth.
