Devolution of power to grass-roots level only way forward to achieve better governance system: PM

KARACHI: Prime Minister Imran Khan says devolution of power to the gross root level is the only way forward to achieve better governance system in the country.

Talking to the journalists in Karachi on Wednesday, he said as much as the transition of powers will be ensured to the lower level, it will lead to achieve the level of better governance system.

The Prime Minister said we are bringing the best local bodies system in the country's history in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said Village Council was established in KPK to ensure transition of powers to the people at lower level.

Regarding coronavirus, he said the government protected the people from poverty due to its effective strategy against the corona pandemic.

He said we will have to fight with corona and save the people from hunger as well.

Imran Khan said no any country can tolerate long-term lockdown.

He said we can contain the spread of coronavirus through following SOPs. He said the federation is extending full cooperation with the provinces to deal with coronavirus.

The Prime Minister said situation in Pakistan is much better as compared to India during the coronavirus pandemic.

He said the government is exercising all-out resources for elimination of locusts.
