HOUSTON – In a historic move, NBA star Kevin Durant has officially joined the Houston Rockets as part of the league’s largest-ever seven-team trade, marking a major shake-up across multiple franchises.
The complex deal involved seven teams, six veteran players, and thirteen draft picks—making it the biggest multi-team transaction in NBA history. Alongside Durant, the Rockets also reacquired veteran center Clint Capela, reinforcing their frontcourt for the upcoming season.
Durant, a 15-time All-Star and former MVP, ended the 2024–25 season with the Phoenix Suns, averaging 26.6 points, 6 rebounds, and 4.2 assists over 62 games. His arrival in Houston signals the franchise’s intent to become serious contenders in the Western Conference.
The trade also saw Phoenix receive rising stars Jalen Green and Dillon Brooks, as well as multiple first-round draft picks, enhancing their rebuilding prospects. Other teams involved in the deal—Brooklyn, Golden State, Atlanta, the Los Angeles Lakers, and Minnesota—reshuffled their rosters with a mix of picks, players, and financial assets.
Rockets management hailed Durant’s acquisition as transformative. General Manager Rafael Stone and Head Coach Ime Udoka praised his leadership and championship experience, expressing confidence in his ability to elevate the team alongside existing talents like Fred VanVleet and Alperen Şengün.
