Clearwater, Florida – Professional wrestling icon Hulk Hogan, one of the most recognizable faces in sports entertainment history, has died at the age of 71, following a reported cardiac arrest at his Florida residence, according to U.S. media and WWE sources.
Born Terry Gene Bollea, Hogan rose to superstardom in the 1980s and 1990s, becoming the face of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and the global phenomenon known as “Hulkamania.” His charisma, towering physique, and signature catchphrases helped transform professional wrestling into mainstream entertainment. Hogan headlined eight of the first nine WrestleMania events, capturing multiple world championships during his decades-long career.
Apart from the ring, Hogan also gained prominence through his roles in films such as Rocky III and the reality television series Hogan Knows Best. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame twice—once as an individual in 2005, and again in 2020 as part of the legendary faction, the New World Order (nWo).
While his career was not without controversy—including legal battles and a brief suspension from WWE’s Hall of Fame—Hogan remained a central figure in wrestling lore and a household name for generations of fans.
Tributes have poured in from fans, fellow wrestlers, and celebrities worldwide, remembering him as a pioneering figure who brought wrestling into the cultural mainstream.
He is survived by his wife, Sky Daily, and his two children, Brooke and Nick Bollea. Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced in the coming days.
