LONDON: Renowned fashion designer and former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham has spoken out in defense of her children, responding to the ongoing “nepo baby” debate that has swept through the entertainment industry.
In an interview with The Sun, Beckham addressed criticism aimed at her 20-year-old son Cruz Beckham, who is pursuing a music career. She highlighted his dedication, saying, “He taught himself to play about seven instruments, writes his own songs, and has even put a band together.”
Acknowledging that her children were born into privilege, Victoria emphasized that the term “nepo baby” unfairly undermines their hard work and individuality. “It’s not their fault who their parents are,” she remarked. “Give them a chance. What matters most is being good, kind, and ambitious in the right way.”
The Beckham family — including Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz, and Harper — has long been in the spotlight, with public expectations often shadowing their personal efforts. Victoria’s comments come amid a broader cultural debate on privilege and merit within creative industries.
She reiterated that while fame may open doors, it is perseverance, humility, and authenticity that sustain success — values she hopes her children will continue to embody.
