Washington, D.C. – USA – In a move that has intensified political tensions, the Republican-led U.S. House Oversight Committee released over 33,000 pages of documents related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The files, provided by the Department of Justice, include court transcripts, police reports, flight logs, and video footage from the night of Epstein’s death in jail.
The release has sparked controversy, with critics arguing that most of the documents were already publicly available. Democratic lawmakers have accused Republicans of using the release to deflect attention from ongoing calls for full transparency in the case. Representatives Thomas Massie and Ro Khanna continue to push for the complete release of all unclassified Epstein records, including those held by the FBI.
House Speaker Mike Johnson dismissed the petition for full disclosure as unnecessary, citing concerns over protecting the identities of victims. Despite the committee’s release, the debate over transparency and accountability in the Epstein case remains unresolved.
