Rawalpindi — Achieving national consensus on matters of security and stability has become an urgent necessity, Director General Inter-Services Public Relations Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said, warning that internal divisions could weaken Pakistan’s ability to respond effectively to evolving threats.
Speaking during an interaction with media and stakeholders, the military spokesperson emphasised that Pakistan is currently facing complex security challenges that demand collective responsibility rather than political confrontation. He noted that national security cannot be safeguarded in an atmosphere of polarisation and mistrust.
Call for Collective Responsibility
The DG ISPR underlined that sustainable peace and stability require cooperation among all state institutions, political forces, and society at large. He said the country’s security architecture depends not only on the armed forces but also on public unity, political maturity, and institutional harmony.
He stressed that differences of opinion are a natural part of democratic systems but cautioned that disputes should not undermine the national interest, particularly at a time when Pakistan continues to counter terrorism and hybrid threats.
Evolving Threat Landscape
Referring to recent security developments, the spokesperson highlighted that hostile elements continue to exploit internal divisions through misinformation, propaganda, and destabilisation efforts. He warned that such tactics aim to erode public trust in state institutions and weaken national resolve.
According to him, addressing these challenges requires a unified narrative and coordinated national response rather than fragmented approaches driven by short-term political gains.
Public Role in National Security
The DG ISPR also acknowledged the role of citizens in strengthening national security, stating that public awareness and resilience are essential components of a strong defence posture. He called on media, political leaders, and opinion-makers to exercise responsibility in discourse related to national security matters.
He concluded by reiterating that consensus, patience, and unity remain Pakistan’s strongest tools in confronting both internal and external challenges.
