ISLAMABAD — The United States remained Pakistan’s biggest buyer of goods in the current financial year, showing steady demand even as other trade partners fluctuated.
Trade figures for July to February indicate that Pakistani exports to the US topped $4 billion, sustaining the long-running trade link between the two countries. Analysts say this is driven by strong interest in Pakistan’s textiles, rice, and sporting goods.
Despite challenges like fluctuating freight costs and stiff global competition, exports to America held firm. Meanwhile, sales to other major destinations — including China, the UK, and the UAE — showed mixed trends due to varying regional demand.
Experts believe diversifying products and targeting new US states could give Pakistan an even firmer foothold going forward. They also encourage policies to enhance value addition so that exporters can make the most of this stable trade relationship.
