ISLAMABAD – The United Nations has established a dedicated network in Pakistan to strengthen efforts against human trafficking and enhance the country’s migration governance. The initiative brings together government agencies, civil society groups, and international experts to collaborate and coordinate effectively on migration-related issues.
The Pakistani network, created in partnership with UN migration agencies, will focus on improving data collection, policy coordination, and capacity-building across relevant institutions. It aims to streamline mechanisms for identifying, protecting, and assisting trafficking survivors, as well as ensuring safe, orderly, and regulated migration.
Officials noted that the effort will include training for frontline workers, legal and medical support services for victims, and public awareness campaigns to educate communities about the dangers of trafficking. The network is also designed to facilitate policy alignment with regional and international best practices, helping Pakistan respond proactively to evolving migration challenges.
The UN praised Pakistan’s proactive stance, with government officials reiterating their commitment to providing safe migration pathways and safeguarding vulnerable populations. Authorities pledged to work closely with humanitarian partners to ensure effective implementation of anti-trafficking measures nationwide.
