GAZA — The United Nations (UN) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) have called for all border crossings into Gaza to be opened to allow urgently needed humanitarian aid into the war-torn Palestinian territory.
Following a fragile truce in Gaza under US President Donald Trump’s plan, humanitarian agencies stressed that aid must reach the famine-hit region without delay.
“That’s what humanitarians, including ICRC, have been calling for in the last hours — making sure that, because of the huge needs, all entry points can be open,” said Red Cross spokesman Christian Cardon in Geneva.
UN humanitarian agency OCHA spokesman Jens Laerke added that while not all crossings are currently functional, efforts are underway to repair partially destroyed entry points and clear roads inside Gaza to allow trucks to deliver aid. “We are calling for that to be repaired so that they can become operational. We’re advocating with everyone,” he said.
The UN and ICRC’s appeal underscores the urgent need for humanitarian access to alleviate the suffering of civilians caught in the ongoing conflict.
