ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: President Asif Ali Zardari on Monday conferred the prestigious Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military) upon Major General Humaid Abdulla Alremeithi, Commander of the United Arab Emirates Naval Forces, in recognition of his exceptional services and role in strengthening defence ties between Pakistan and the UAE.
The award ceremony, held at Aiwan-e-Sadr, symbolised the growing strategic and military partnership between the two brotherly nations. President Zardari praised the Emirati commander’s contributions and highlighted the enduring cooperation between both countries in the fields of defence, training, and maritime security. He also reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to providing full support to the UAE in meeting its naval manpower requirements in the future.
Major General Alremeithi, who studied at the Pakistan Naval Academy in Karachi for four years, shares a deep personal bond with Pakistan. During his visit, he also called on Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, at Joint Staff Headquarters, where both sides discussed enhancing regional maritime collaboration and addressing emerging strategic challenges.
The conferment of the Nishan-e-Imtiaz not only acknowledges the UAE Naval Chief’s personal achievements but also reflects the deep-rooted friendship and mutual trust between Islamabad and Abu Dhabi. Analysts see the move as a reaffirmation of Pakistan’s resolve to further cement defence and diplomatic ties with the UAE, particularly in the backdrop of evolving regional security dynamics.
