ISLAMABAD – Türkiye’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, accompanied by Defence Minister Yasar Guler, arrived in Islamabad on Tuesday night for a high-level official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral ties between Pakistan and Türkiye.
The visiting delegation is scheduled to hold meetings with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, and Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir. The talks will focus on enhancing cooperation in various sectors including trade, economy, defence, security, and regional stability.
According to diplomatic sources, both countries will discuss ongoing joint defence projects, technology transfers, counter-terrorism strategies, and initiatives to expand strategic cooperation. Officials also anticipate deliberations on regional developments, particularly the situation in Afghanistan and broader Middle East dynamics.
The Foreign Office of Pakistan described the visit as a reaffirmation of the strong and historic ties between the two brotherly nations, underpinned by shared values, cultural affinity, and mutual trust.
This visit follows a recent trajectory of deepening engagement, with growing collaboration in the defence sector—highlighted by the MILGEM-class corvette project—and the 2023 signing of a preferential trade agreement between the two countries.
Both sides are expected to issue a joint statement following the conclusion of bilateral meetings.
