Washington (PakTribune Report): Former US President Donald Trump declared that China would not invade Taiwan if he returns to the White House, asserting his leadership would deter Beijing from making such a move.
Speaking at a campaign event, Trump said his personal relations with Chinese President Xi Jinping and his firm stance on foreign policy would prevent any escalation in the Taiwan Strait. “As long as I am president, China will never invade Taiwan,” he asserted.
The remarks come amid heightened tensions between Washington and Beijing, with Taiwan remaining a flashpoint in their rivalry. US officials have repeatedly warned China against attempts to alter the status quo by force, while Beijing insists on its “One China” policy and eventual reunification with the island.
Trump’s statement is seen as part of his broader foreign policy narrative, projecting himself as a leader capable of preventing conflicts through strength and negotiation. His comments have sparked debate among analysts about the feasibility of his approach, given China’s growing military ambitions and Taiwan’s increasing importance in global geopolitics.
