WASHINGTON – Former US President Donald Trump has categorically denied reports that his administration proposed a $30 billion civilian nuclear assistance deal to Iran in exchange for halting uranium enrichment activities.
In a strongly worded statement posted on his official platform, Trump dismissed the media reports as baseless and labelled them a fabrication.
“Who in the fake news media is the sleazebag saying that ‘President Trump wants to give Iran $30 Billion to build non-military nuclear facilities’? Never heard of this ridiculous idea,” he said.
The reports, initially circulated by international media outlets, alleged that Washington was considering economic incentives and nuclear technology cooperation as part of a broader diplomatic engagement with Tehran following recent regional escalations.
Background and Escalation
The allegations surfaced amidst a fragile ceasefire between Iran, Israel, and the United States following a series of retaliatory strikes earlier this month. The strikes included attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities by the US and Israel, and subsequent Iranian missile responses targeting American bases.
Strategic Posturing
While Trump rejected the idea of any financial or nuclear support to Iran, he reiterated that any future engagement with Tehran would remain contingent on the complete dismantling of its uranium enrichment capabilities. He also stated that he would not hesitate to take further military action if Iran resumed any activity threatening regional security.
The US State Department has not issued an official response to the reports.
