SIBI – A section of the rail track near Sibi was damaged following an explosion that partially destroyed a bogie on the Quetta-bound Bolan Mail train, officials reported on Friday. The blast occurred as the train was travelling along the Sibi–Zardalu branch line, causing structural harm to one carriage.
No passengers or crew members were injured, according to railway authorities. The train was immediately halted for safety inspections, and specialized teams were dispatched to assess and repair the damaged bogie and track section.
Security forces have launched a search operation in the surrounding area to identify and apprehend those responsible. The Sibi–Zardalu branch, recently reopened following previous terrorist threats, remains a vital link for passenger connectivity in Pakistan, especially between Karachi and Quetta.
Pakistan Railways said that enhanced patrols and stringent safety measures have been put in place along the route. Engineers are working to restore the service soon, and a comprehensive technical inspection will determine if additional reinforcements are necessary to prevent future disruptions.
