ISLAMABAD – In a significant development, the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) on Friday dismissed 19 out of 24 complaints filed against superior court judges. The meeting, held on July 12, 2025, was chaired by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yahya Afridi at the Supreme Court building in Islamabad.
The Council unanimously resolved to dismiss the 19 complaints after thorough review. The remaining five complaints were deferred for further consideration in future sessions.

Confidentiality Maintained
The SJC opted not to disclose the names of the judges whose complaints were dismissed. The Council stated that the publication of such details remains at its discretion, emphasizing the importance of confidentiality in such sensitive matters.
Service Rules 2025 Approved
In another key move, the Council approved the draft of the Supreme Judicial Council Secretariat Service Rules, 2025. These rules are aimed at enhancing the administrative framework of the Council and ensuring better operational efficiency.
Additionally, the Council agreed to continue deliberations on proposed amendments to the Code of Conduct for judges and the procedure for conducting inquiries, signaling potential reforms in the judicial oversight process.
Context
This meeting follows earlier sessions where the SJC had reviewed pending complaints. The Council has previously disposed of 40 out of 46 complaints filed against judges, according to official sources.
