RAWALPINDI – South Africa reached 86 for two at tea on the second day of the second Test against Pakistan, trailing by 247 runs after Pakistan posted a solid first-innings total of 333.
Spinner Keshav Maharaj starred for South Africa, taking a career-best 7-102 to restrict Pakistan from pushing past the 350 mark.
Pakistan’s Shaheen Shah Afridi gave his side an early breakthrough, dismissing Ryan Rickelton for 14. The visitors, however, steadied their innings through Tristan Stubbs and Tony de Zorzi, who remained unbeaten on 23 and 13 respectively.
As play resumes, South Africa faces the uphill task of closing the gap while Pakistan eyes early wickets to maintain control of the match.
