SKARDU: Renowned Pakistani singer Quratulain Balouch, popularly known as QB, was injured in a rare and shocking brown bear attack while camping in the scenic Deosai National Park near Skardu. The incident has raised concerns over tourist safety and wildlife management in one of Pakistan’s most breathtaking yet untamed landscapes.
According to local sources, Balouch was camping with friends when the unexpected encounter took place. The brown bear, native to Deosai’s rugged terrain, reportedly entered the campsite late at night. Though park officials confirmed that such attacks are highly unusual, the sudden aggression left the singer with injuries that required immediate medical attention. She was swiftly shifted to a nearby hospital in Skardu, where doctors confirmed she is now in stable condition.
Deosai, known as the “Land of Giants,” is home to the endangered Himalayan brown bear. Wildlife experts have long highlighted the delicate balance between conservation and tourism in the region. The growing number of visitors, while boosting local tourism, also increases the chances of human-wildlife conflict if not properly managed.
Balouch’s fans have flooded social media with messages of support, praying for her speedy recovery. The incident has also sparked debate over whether stronger safety measures, such as designated camping zones and increased ranger patrols, are urgently needed to protect visitors exploring Pakistan’s northern wonders.
