ISLAMABAD/RIYADH: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has termed his recent discussions with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman as “most cordial,” saying the talks covered pressing regional challenges as well as new avenues for bilateral cooperation.
The prime minister noted that the warmth of the reception in Riyadh — which included a Royal Saudi Air Force escort and an honour guard — reflected the “deep affection and enduring respect” shared between the two brotherly nations. He expressed special gratitude for the Crown Prince’s leadership, describing him as a driving force for unity and progress in the Muslim world.
During the talks, both sides touched on key regional issues, including security threats and instability in neighbouring states, while reaffirming their resolve to work together for peace and stability. On the bilateral front, Shehbaz said the focus was on enhancing trade, investment, and defence cooperation, particularly under the newly signed Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement.
The defence pact, hailed as a major milestone in Pakistan-Saudi relations, lays down a framework for deeper military collaboration and joint deterrence — signalling a stronger partnership in the face of regional uncertainties.
Concluding his remarks, the prime minister prayed for the friendship between the two countries to “flourish further and reach new heights of strength and glory, Inshallah.”
