ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has formally received an invitation from Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to participate in the forthcoming Future Investment Initiative (FII) Forum in Riyadh — a high-profile global gathering of business leaders, investors, and policymakers set to discuss transformative economic opportunities.
According to official sources, the invitation was personally conveyed by Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Malki during a meeting with the premier at the Prime Minister’s House. The forum, scheduled to be held later this month in Riyadh, is widely recognised as a flagship platform for economic collaboration, innovation, and strategic partnerships, attracting global stakeholders seeking to shape the future of investment and sustainable development.
Prime Minister Shehbaz expressed his deep appreciation for the Saudi leadership’s gesture, highlighting the enduring bonds of brotherhood and mutual trust that underpin Pakistan–Saudi Arabia relations. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties, particularly in the fields of trade, energy cooperation, infrastructure development, and investment facilitation.
During the meeting, the premier lauded the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 as a transformative roadmap for economic diversification and regional growth, noting that Pakistan could serve as a strategic partner in realising shared development goals. He underscored that the FII Forum offers a valuable opportunity to showcase Pakistan’s investment potential, explore new markets, and expand joint ventures with international stakeholders.
The invitation is being viewed in diplomatic circles as a testament to the growing warmth in Pakistan–Saudi relations, with both sides emphasising cooperation in sectors such as renewable energy, technology, tourism, and agriculture. Analysts believe that Pakistan’s active participation in the Riyadh forum could pave the way for new strategic alliances and bolster the country’s economic outlook amidst ongoing domestic reforms.
