ISLAMABAD – Celebrated actor and UNICEF Pakistan’s National Ambassador for Child Rights, Saba Qamar, marked World Children’s Day with a powerful appeal, urging the nation to unite and protect the rights, futures, and voices of its children.
In her message, Qamar highlighted that every child deserves the right to safety, education, health, growth, and participation in decisions affecting their future. She emphasized that children must not remain silent spectators in their own lives, but instead be empowered to speak and be heard.
The star additionally shed light on the pressing reality faced by millions of children in Pakistan, where challenges such as child marriage, limited access to quality schooling, gender discrimination, violence, and poverty continue to deprive young citizens of basic rights and opportunities. She particularly pointed to the alarming number of young girls pushed into early marriage, calling for urgent societal and policy-level reforms.
Wearing the symbolic UNICEF blue, Qamar invited Pakistanis nationwide to “turn the country blue” as a visual reminder of the nation’s commitment to children’s dignity and wellbeing. She reaffirmed her dedication to her ambassadorial role, promising to continue raising her voice so that Pakistan’s youth can not only dream, but live in a country where those dreams stand a chance.
