KYIV, UKRAINE: A wave of deadly Russian drone and missile strikes pounded Kyiv and several other regions across Ukraine, leaving at least four civilians dead and nearly two dozen injured in one of the most intense overnight assaults in recent weeks.
According to Ukrainian officials, the attacks struck multiple residential and industrial zones, sparking widespread fires and chaos in the capital and beyond. The Ministry of Internal Affairs confirmed that one of the casualties was a rescue worker killed during a follow-up strike in the Dnipropetrovsk region, while another woman lost her life in eastern Ukraine. In Kyiv, Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported two fatalities and 12 injuries amid heavy explosions that shook the city in the early hours.
Ukraine’s Air Force revealed that Russia launched a combined attack involving nine Iskander-M ballistic missiles and 62 drones, mainly Shahed-type kamikaze UAVs. Despite successfully intercepting four missiles and 50 drones, several projectiles managed to hit civilian areas, causing significant damage to homes, vehicles, and power infrastructure.
The strikes also triggered large-scale fires in Kyiv’s Desnyansky and Darnytsky districts. Emergency crews worked throughout the night to douse the flames and rescue trapped residents, as thick smoke clouded the skyline. Authorities warned that similar barrages could continue as winter approaches, with Russia apparently targeting Ukraine’s energy grid and essential facilities once again.
The latest assault underscores Moscow’s continued push to cripple Ukrainian resistance by striking deep into populated areas — a move that has drawn fresh condemnation from Western nations and renewed calls for stronger air defence systems for Kyiv.
As the war enters its fourth winter, the resilience of the Ukrainian people faces another brutal test under the shadow of relentless bombardment.
