RAWALPINDI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain, dust storms, and thunderstorms in northern and upper parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Punjab from June 2 to 5, continuing through the Eid holidays. Areas affected include Murree, Swat, Abbottabad, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Peshawar, and more.
KP and Punjab disaster management authorities have advised local officials to prepare for emergencies and ensure heavy machinery is ready. People are warned to avoid electric poles and unstable structures during storms. Tourists and locals in northern areas have been urged to stay cautious.
Southern Punjab will remain hot and dry, but rain is expected in Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Bahawalpur on June 3-4.
Meanwhile, Cholistan’s drought relief efforts continue, with over 450,000 litres of water delivered to affected residents.
