LAHORE, PAKISTAN: The Punjab government has initiated the third phase of its campaign to deport undocumented Afghan nationals, signaling a renewed push in the province’s broader efforts to address illegal migration. Authorities have instructed law enforcement agencies to identify, detain, and repatriate individuals residing without valid documentation.
According to official sources, this phase of the operation will target Afghan nationals who have overstayed or whose Proof of Registration (PoR) and Afghan Citizen Cards (ACC) have expired. The campaign aims to streamline the deportation process through coordinated actions between police, district administrations, and the Federal Ministry of Interior.
Punjab Police has set up multiple holding centers across key districts, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Faisalabad, where undocumented individuals are being processed prior to repatriation. Officials maintain that the operation is being carried out in accordance with established legal frameworks, while humanitarian organizations have urged the government to ensure that deportations are handled with compassion and respect for human rights.
Authorities reaffirmed that the campaign forms part of Pakistan’s national policy on illegal foreign residents, which seeks to balance national security considerations with international humanitarian obligations.
