LAHORE – The provincial government of Pakistan has approved a budget allocation of Rs26.77 billion aimed at enhancing health infrastructure and services across Punjab. This financial package targets improvements in public health delivery, facility upgrades, and strategic medical resources.
Funds will be directed toward expanding and modernising hospitals, medical colleges, and laboratories throughout the province. The programme will support the establishment of new outpatient departments, emergency units, and diagnostic centres. In addition, the allocation includes provisions for hiring and training healthcare professionals, as well as investing in advanced medical equipment.
Officials emphasised that bolstering primary healthcare networks forms a key part of the strategy, with special focus on underserved and rural communities. The funds are expected to improve access to essential services, reduce patient load on major hospitals, and enhance overall health outcomes through preventative and curative care.
This initiative forms part of Punjab’s broader health sector roadmap, aligned with national objectives to improve disease management and strengthen resilience against public health emergencies. Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to accountability and timely implementation across all approved projects.
