ISLAMABAD – In a firm display of party discipline, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has expelled five of its Members of National Assembly (MNAs) for voting in favor of the 26th Constitutional Amendment Bill, defying the party’s official stance.
The expelled lawmakers include Salahuddin Khan, Nasir Musazai, Ahmed Hussain Deharr, Nawab Sher Waseer, and Muhammad Iqbal Khan. All were served show-cause notices prior to their removal.
Party Discipline Enforced
PTI’s leadership stated that despite clear instructions to oppose the bill, these MNAs supported it during a crucial National Assembly session. The party termed it a “serious violation” of discipline and directed the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to de-notify their memberships under Article 63A of the Constitution.
No Tolerance for Dissent
PTI Secretary General confirmed the expulsions, saying the decision was made after a thorough review by the party’s Disciplinary Committee.
Political analysts say the move is part of PTI’s strategy to reassert internal control and present a united front amid ongoing national developments.
