LAHORE, Pakistan — Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced the launch of a fresh street movement from Lahore, signalling a renewed phase of political mobilisation as tensions continue to mount across the country and the party seeks to reassert pressure on the government.
The movement is set to begin from Liberty Roundabout, where party workers, office-bearers, lawyers and supporters are expected to gather in large numbers to welcome senior PTI leadership, including the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister. Party leaders have described the gathering as the starting point of a broader protest drive aimed at reviving street politics and highlighting what PTI calls the deterioration of constitutional and democratic norms.
According to party officials, the decision to initiate the movement has been taken in line with directives from PTI founder Imran Khan, who has repeatedly urged supporters to remain politically active despite his continued incarceration. PTI leaders have framed the renewed mobilisation as a struggle for the rule of law and democratic rights, stressing that public participation is central to keeping these demands alive.
Preparations for the demonstrations have extended beyond Lahore, with organisers mobilising workers from surrounding districts such as Sargodha and Mandi Bahauddin to ensure a strong show of support. Party leadership has emphasised unity and discipline, urging supporters to adhere to peaceful protest methods and avoid any actions that could lead to disorder.
PTI’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa leadership has reiterated that the movement will remain within constitutional limits, insisting that the party’s objective is political pressure rather than instability. The leadership has also warned workers to remain vigilant and organised as the party prepares for what it describes as a sustained phase of agitation.
Political analysts note that Lahore has historically been a focal point for major political movements, and any sustained street activity from the provincial capital could significantly raise the political temperature. With authorities on alert and public attention focused on the unfolding events, the coming days are expected to reveal whether PTI’s fresh street movement gains momentum or remains limited in scope.
