Islamabad — Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has departed for Davos, Switzerland, where he will lead a high-level Pakistani delegation at the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting, aiming to strengthen Pakistan’s economic outreach and deepen engagement with global leaders, investors and policymakers.
The WEF summit, being held in Davos-Klosters, brings together heads of state, government officials, leaders of international organisations and top corporate executives to deliberate on key global challenges, including economic recovery, geopolitical stability, climate change and sustainable development.
According to the Foreign Office, the prime minister will hold multiple substantive engagements during the summit. His programme includes participation in the Informal Gathering of World Economic Leaders, where he is expected to share Pakistan’s perspective on restoring dialogue and cooperation in an increasingly divided global environment.
In addition, PM Shehbaz is scheduled to host a Pakistan-focused high-level business roundtable, engaging with leading international investors and business figures. The session will highlight Pakistan’s investment potential, ongoing economic reforms and future growth priorities, with a particular focus on trade, energy, infrastructure and technology.
The prime minister will also hold bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the forum with world leaders and heads of global institutions, discussing avenues for enhanced cooperation, economic partnerships and regional stability. Officials say the engagements aim to project Pakistan as a credible partner committed to reform, multilateralism and constructive global engagement.
The visit comes at a time when Pakistan is seeking to consolidate economic stability and attract foreign investment amid a challenging global economic landscape. Participation at the WEF is seen as a key opportunity to rebuild investor confidence and present Pakistan’s economic narrative to an influential international audience.
Government officials believe the Davos visit will help advance Pakistan’s diplomatic and economic objectives, while reinforcing its role in global discussions on development, peace and inclusive growth.
