ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening ties with Saudi Arabia and Qatar, underscoring the support these Gulf nations have extended during economic and strategic challenges.
Meeting separately with the envoys from both countries, the premier expressed gratitude for their governments’ financial and diplomatic assistance. He stressed the importance of maintaining regional cohesion and emphasised Pakistan’s readiness to collaborate on mutual interests such as energy security, investment, and labour issues.
During talks, the Saudi envoy highlighted ongoing cooperation in the energy sector, while Qatar’s diplomat spoke of expanding economic partnerships and cultural exchange programmes. Both envoys reaffirmed their countries’ willingness to support Pakistani nationals working in the Gulf.
PM Shehbaz emphasised that these longstanding relationships remain central to Pakistan’s foreign policy, particularly amid global economic uncertainties. “Our bond with Saudi Arabia and Qatar continues to be an anchor for Pakistan’s stability and development,” he stated.
Officials say the meetings will be followed by joint working groups to explore new avenues in trade, infrastructure, and workforce mobility. The prime minister’s remarks signal an intent to further integrate Pakistan’s economy with Gulf-based partners.
