Islamabad – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his Christmas message, has reaffirmed that the Christian community is an integral and respected part of Pakistan’s national fabric, underscoring the government’s commitment to religious harmony, inclusion and equal rights for all citizens.
In his message, the prime minister extended warm greetings and best wishes to Christians living in Pakistan and across the world, saying that Christmas carries a powerful message of love, peace, compassion and coexistence. He noted that these values are essential for building a harmonious and progressive society.
PM Shehbaz emphasized that Hazrat Isa (AS) holds a revered status in Islam, and his teachings of kindness, patience and service to humanity continue to inspire people across faiths. He said Pakistan’s strength lies in its diversity, where people of different religions and backgrounds live together and contribute collectively to national development.
Highlighting the contributions of the Christian community, the prime minister acknowledged their significant role in education, healthcare, social services and national institutions, stating that their dedication and sacrifices have helped shape Pakistan’s social and moral foundations. He also paid tribute to Christian citizens who have laid down their lives for the country, particularly in the fight against terrorism.
The prime minister reiterated that the Constitution of Pakistan guarantees equal rights, religious freedom and protection to all minorities, adding that the government remains committed to fostering interfaith harmony, tolerance and mutual respect. He urged all Pakistanis to work together to promote unity and solidarity, especially in challenging times.
Concluding his message, PM Shehbaz expressed hope that Christmas would bring peace, happiness and prosperity to the Christian community and renewed progress and stability for Pakistan as a whole.
