ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday inaugurated a Chinese-backed Special Economic Zone (SEZ), terming it a milestone for Pakistan’s economic growth and regional cooperation.
Addressing the ceremony, the premier said the initiative would boost industrial development, create employment opportunities, and strengthen trade ties with China under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). He highlighted that the zone is designed to attract both local and foreign investment, providing incentives to industries.
Later, the Prime Minister met with the High Commissioner of Bangladesh and discussed enhancing bilateral relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh, particularly in trade, culture, and people-to-people contacts.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to regional connectivity and economic cooperation, saying that prosperity in South Asia could only be achieved through mutual collaboration.
