ISLAMABAD – Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has dismissed the president and secretary general of the Aircraft Engineers Association, intensifying the ongoing rift between management and the union.
The national carrier’s decision follows days of tension, with the association accused of inciting disruption amid operational delays and maintenance disputes. PIA officials stated that the dismissals were based on internal disciplinary violations, while the union called the move “retaliatory and unjustified.”
The controversy comes at a critical moment for the struggling airline, which has been battling flight cancellations, staff shortages, and public scrutiny over its future restructuring plans.
Union members have vowed to challenge the dismissals through legal channels, warning that the crackdown could further destabilize workforce morale.
